Chrysler Group recently announced a deal with China's biggest independent automaker, Chery, to launch a low-cost production venture that will aim to export the first Chinese-made cars to the United States. Chinese manufacturers have built up a reputation for reasonably well-made, inexpensive low-tech products such as toys and textiles.
